United States President Donald Trump has again criticised World Health Organisation (WHO) for being China-centric during the coronavirus pandemic and has threatened to put hold on America¡¯s funding to the organisation.
He took to Twitter to express what he feels an unfair approach by WHO.
"The W.H.O. really blew it, For some reason, funded largely by the United States, yet very China centric. We will be giving that a good look. Fortunately I rejected their advice on keeping our borders open to China early on. Why did they give us such a faulty recommendation?,¡± his tweet read.

Trump didn¡¯t stop there. Later during the White House new briefing late on Tuesday, he repeated the accusations. ¡°We¡¯re going to put a hold on money spent to the WHO. We¡¯re going to put a very powerful hold on it and we¡¯re going to see. It¡¯s a great thing if it works. But when they call every shot wrong, that¡¯s no good,¡± US President told reporters.
The attack on WHO isn¡¯t a new development though. It was two weeks ago when Trump first took a potshot at WHO for siding with China during crises, asserting that many people are unhappy with the global health agency and feel that "it's been very unfair.¡±
US¡¯ conservatives have increasingly criticized the WHO during the global pandemic, saying it relied on faulty data from China about the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
Last week, Republican Senator Marco Rubio called for the resignation of WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, saying "he allowed Beijing to use the WHO to mislead the global community."
The United States had a gloomy day on Tuesday as it reported a record daily figure of 1,939 deaths bringing up the total toll of COVID-19 positive deaths to 12,844, which is fast closing on tolls in the other worst-hit countries such as Italy and Spain.
In the United States, New York City remains the hotspot with 731 deaths new deaths on Tuesday. The city so far has reported 5,489 deaths. New York City has seen the largest number of cases and deaths within the state, with 74,601 cases.
New York State has reported 1,39,875 cases of coronavirus.
