After fight with Sam Altman, Musk digs up OpenAI co-founder's tweet thanking Reid Hoffman for Trump's defeat in 2020
It all began with US President Donald Trump's announcement of a joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle to create a $500 billion artificial intelligence initiative called Stargate. Musk claimed that the initiative did not have the amount they had announced.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk and OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman are not the best of friends, to put it mildly. Altman and Musk, who had worked together in the past in the early days of OpenAI, have since fallen out and these days don't see eye to eye, even being involved in a legal dispute over the non-profit status of the company behind ChatGPT.
Musk vs Altman
The two locked horns once again on Wednesday, this time on X, the social media platform owned by Musk.
It all began with US President Donald Trump's announcement of a joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle to create a $500 billion artificial intelligence initiative called Stargate.
'They don't have the money'
Responding to OpenAI's announcement of the creation of Stargate on X, Musk claimed that the initiative did not have the amount they had announced.
"They don¡¯t actually have the money. SoftBank has well under $10B secured. I have that on good authority," Musk said in two separate posts.
Altman was quick to respond to Musk and said his information was wrong.
wrong, as you surely know.

this is great for the country. i realize what is great for the country isn't always what's optimal for your companies, but in your new role i hope you'll mostly put ?? first.
'I respect you'
To Musk's "They don¡¯t actually have the money" post, Altman responded by saying, "i genuinely respect your accomplishments and think you are the most inspiring entrepreneur of our time."

Musk posts old tweet of Altman
When it seemed like the squabble was over, Musk came back, digging up some dirt on Altman. Musk, the right-hand man of Trump, posted the screenshot of a 2021 tweet in which Altman thanked Reid Hoffman for his efforts in making sure that Trump was not re-elected in 2020.

Hoffman, a prominent Democrat donor and the co-founder of LinkedIn, had also funded the lawsuit by E. Jean Carroll against Trump.
Following Trump's election victory in 2024, Hoffman has hinted that he plans to leave the US.
Meanwhile, following the recent developments, Altman seems to have changed his perspective on the new US President.
watching @potus more carefully recently has really changed my perspective on him (i wish i had done more of my own thinking and definitely fell in the npc trap).

i'm not going to agree with him on everything, but i think he will be incredible for the country in many ways!
