And how much did it cost Musk? Musk reportedly spent at least $270 million (?2,280 crore), an astronomical amount for anyone else but just a fraction of his net worth for the Tesla CEO.
According to The Washington Post, Musk has also become the biggest political donor in the US, contributing over $70 million more than Tim Mellon, who was previously the biggest Republican contributor, donating nearly $200 million to the Trump campaign.
How did Musk fund Trump campaign
Most of Musk's political donations came through America PAC, a political action committee he founded. Musk donated $238 million to America PAC and an additional $20 million to the RBG PAC.
Musk had even offered a $1 million cash reward daily for 18 days to a lucky registered voter in a battleground state over the final days of the campaign who signed an online petition pledging to support free speech and gun rights.
Musk appeared with Trump during campaigns
It was not just his financial contribution that catapulted Trump, who was trailing Kamala Harris in the initial opinion polls, into a landslide win in the Presidential elections. Musk also became the biggest campaigner for Trump, making several campaign appearances alongside the Republican candidate. Musk also put X, the social media platform he purchased for $44 billion, to good use during the election campaign, often amplifying unfounded or outright false claims targeting the Democratic campaign.

What is Musk getting in return?
And Musk has been rewarded handsomely for his efforts by Trump, who has put him in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which will cut regulations, spending, and headcounts within the federal government¡ªa move many see as a conflict of interest as it would benefit many of his future projects.
