USA took India's side in the border tensions with China. It called ¡°provocative and disturbing behaviour¡± as it seems to be posing a threat by using power whether it is on the South China Sea or on the borders with India, according to a TNN report.
The statement made by senior US diplomat Alice Wells comes when Indian and Chinese armies have increased troops around Pangong Tso lake and Galwan Valley in Ladakh 2 weeks after engaging in a face-off.
The Chinese troops have have gone up and even more boats can be seen at the lake. Demchok and Daulat Beg Oldie are also seeing more troops as reported by PTI.
¡°The flare-ups on the border, I think are reminder that Chinese aggression is not always just rhetorical. And so whether it's on the South China Sea or whether it's along the border with India we continue to see provocations and disturbing behaviour by China that raises questions about how China seeks to use its growing power,¡± said Wells.
Wells is the outgoing head of the South and Central Asia bureau in the US State Department.
China claims its right to own the whole of the South China Sea while Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan have countered that claim for their right to be considered as well.
