The Israeli army has claimed that the commander responsible for funding Hezbollah has been "eliminated" in Syria. According to the IDF, the commander, who has not been named, was the head of Hezbollah's Unit 4400, which is "responsible for the transfers and the amount of funds".

Unit 4400 is charged with transporting Iranian oil to Syria, which is then sold in Lebanon to raise funds for Hezbollah.

Hezbollah's money stash uncovered
Earlier, the IDF said it identified a secret Hezbollah financial hub beneath a Beirut hospital. According to the IDF, the bunker contained hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold, allegedly used to fund the group's operations.

"Tonight, I am going to declassify intelligence on a site that we did not strike ¡ª where Hezbollah has millions of dollars in gold and cash in Hassan Nasrallah's bunker. The bunker is located directly under Al-Sahel Hospital in the heart of Beirut," IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.
"According to estimates, there is at least half a billion dollars in dollar bills and gold stored in this bunker. This money could and still can be used to rebuild the state of Lebanon," he added.

How Hezbollah is hiding its cash reserves
On Sunday night, the IDF had carried out an airstrike that, among other targets, hit Al-Qard Al-Hassan (AQAH), a financial firm linked to Hezbollah.
Hagari claimed that one of the key targets was an underground vault containing tens of millions of dollars in cash and gold, resources that were allegedly being used to fund attacks on Israel.
