Italian Mayors Are Scolding People Violating Quarantine & Their Rants Are Winning The Internet
Italy has been on lockdown since March 9 as the coronavirus pandemic has claimed around 5500 lives in the country alone. But sadly between March 11 and 17, police found as many as 43,000 people breaking the rules and violating the quarantine.

Now this is not done, you are not only compromising your own safety but also that of others. And this pretty much undermines all the hard work put in by authorities and health workers to counter the disease.
Well, Italian mayors have had enough, especially the mayors. According to a report in The Indian Express, Antonio Decaro, the mayor of Bari, personally asked people to go indoors instead of staying out. Take a look:

But he's not the only one. Gianfilippo Bancheri, the mayor of Delia, scolded the people in a live Facebook video, as per a report in The Guardian.
¡°Just today (Sunday) there were people having parties, barbecues. Are they serious? That¡¯s how you transmit the disease! Apparently, some people still cannot engage their brains,¡± he ranted.
Here's how it went about:

But there were others who also scolded people from their towns. Twitter user @protecttheflames made a video of Italian mayors slamming people for not taking the pandemic seriously. Check it out:
My new favourite thing is Italian mayors and regional presidents LOSING IT at people violating quarantine. Here's an eng subtitled compilation. "I hear you wanna throw graduation parties. I'm gonna send the police over. With flamethrowers." #Covid19 #coronavirus pic.twitter.com/NbYuWePIVt

The rants became viral on the internet and people agreed that some harsh words were necessary:
Every city needs their own Italian mayor to get the message across https://t.co/UelngTwJ63

is exactly the right amount of energy this calamity needs.
Italian mayors have had it with selfish people. Preach gentlemen. Preach. https://t.co/rJP6i0FR3O

Sadly many Italians have not taken #Quarantine seriously. Believing that since they are "healthy" they "don't care". But what about their nonni? Their parents and others!? Total selfishness!

Coronavirus has claimed over 15,000 lives worldwide. It is a grave threat to our way of life so violating rules only makes this more difficult for us in the long run.
