Khalsa Aid Serves Food To Students, Ukraine Refugees Coming To Hungary, Poland And Moldova
International Sikh charity Khalsa Aid has been running their assistance mission on these borders to provide food and water to those coming from Ukraine. According to the UK-based charity, its volunteers have been providing free langar and assistance to students at the borders of Poland, Hungary, Moldova.
As the war in Ukraine continues into its second week, there is a steady stream of Ukrainian refugees and foreign students fleeing the country.
In the past few days over a million people have fled Ukraine, mostly to neighbouring countries.
This has left the international borders crowded especially Ukraine's border with countries like Romania, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, where most of them are heading to.
The large volume of people has also given rise to a humanitarian crisis at these borders as officials there are struggling to process them.
In the meantime, many of those who fled are struggling to get food and water.

Refugee crisis
Slovakia has said that the country has registered 90,329 people crossing its border from Ukraine since the Russian invasion began on February 24.
Poland, a neighboring Slavic nation where many Ukrainians have settled in recent years for work, has received the largest single group of refugees so far, with many being taken in by relatives or friends. Many refugees continue moving west to countries like Italy and Germany.
In one week, neighboring nations accepted more than 2% of Ukraine's population of 44 million, according to the U.N. refugee agency, UNHCR. The operation has gone relatively smoothly thanks to an enormous mobilization of volunteers who have gone to the borders to help.
The European Union decided on Thursday to grant people fleeing Ukraine temporary protection and residency permits. EU Migration Commissioner Ylva Johansson said millions more were expected to move into the 27-nation bloc and would require shelter, schooling and work. The U.N. refugee agency predicted the war could produce up to 4 million refugees.
Thousands of people are believed to have been killed or wounded and more than 1 million refugees have fled Ukraine since last week when Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the attack.
Those leaving are overwhelmingly women and children. Ukrainian men have been ordered to stay and fight in the war.
