In recent years, AI image-generator tools have become so advanced to the point that they can create life-like pictures, which are often difficult for an untrained eye to distinguish.

This has also resulted in some unscrupulous elements taking advantage of unsuspecting people using AI-generated images. One such instance is the case of the cat¡¯s eye dazzle' flowers.
Some photos of Cat¡¯s Eye Dazzle Flowers have gone viral on social media showing the flowers, that look like cat faces and have black eyes and a nose.
People buying cat¡¯s eye dazzle flower seeds
Naturally, the photos have managed to get some eyeballs and people who have been bowled over by it are apparently buying cat¡¯s eye dazzle flower seeds online.
According to some reports, several e-commerce platforms including E-bay are selling seeds of cat¡¯s eye dazzle flower for anywhere between $15 and $30 per pack.
AI-generated images
While some people may have fallen for it, many are skeptical and have posted about them on social media.
"This appeared in my Google ads, searching for ¡°cats eye dazzle¡± brings up loads of totally fake looking images. Is there a real plant and what does it look like?," one person posted on Reddit.
"This is one of those fake plants scammers sell like blue watermelon or blue strawberries," a user said while responding to the post.
In a related conversation on Quora, many users pointed out that these images have been making rounds on the internet for a long time, even before the current AI boom.
According to some reports, there are no scientific records of any "Cat¡¯s Eye Dazzle" or "Cryptanthus bivittatus", the supposed scientific name of the plant before 2024.
