Rasam Is Now 'Viral' In US All Thanks To This Tamilian Chef
While the world hopes USA comes up with a 'medical miracle' to tackle COVID, those living in New York, New Jersey, and Princeton are backing a South Indian food to beat COVID. We are talking of rasam, and the reason for its 'viral trend' is none other than a chef from Tamil Nadu.
As per a report in The New Indian Express, 35-year-old Arun Rajadurai came up with his idea while USA was in lockdown. Main items needed to make rasam are turmeric, ginger, and garlic which also boost one's immunity. So rasam is a good diet option for those testing positive for COVID.
Arun would provide food to patients in 3 hospitals. When he added it as a complementary dish, people loved it and wanted more. It became a key part of Anjappar Princeton, the hotel where he worked.
It was introduced to the branches in New York, New Jersey and Canada. Daily 500-600 cups are sold.
¡°I was experimenting at home when I made this. We never thought it would be such a hit,¡± he said.
Arun moved to New Jersey five years ago. He's originally from Meensurutti near Jayankondam in Ariyalur. IHM Tiruchy is where he studied catering and in 2018 was awarded as the Best South East Asian Chef.
His brilliant plan is working and rasam is becoming famous in USA. Hailed as the 'immunity-boosting soup', it is gaining popularity like never before.
