The conditions of stray dogs across the world is pretty bad. Most of them do not get adopted, or are cared for, eventually dying because of a disease they contract living on the streets, or are put to rest by the animal authorities. If you remember a few months back there was a huge movement to stop the cruel Yulin Dog Festival. Closer home, Kerala has also been criticised for it's cruel plans to cull stray dogs.

Greece too has a problem of strays. People do take little pups in shelter, but many of them also abandon them because they can't afford to keep them anymore. Thankfully, Greece has a place like Hott Spott. A cafe in Mytilene, Lesbos, Hott Spott provides a comfortable place to stay for the strays. Since July this year, they have been letting in dogs to sleep on the couches of their cafe.

It's just a beautiful gesture by the people of Greece who have been going through a lot themselves in the past year. It's a wonderful to see how they not only go out of their way to help out humans, but care for stray animals as well.
Greece is truly winning at humanity.
