This comes as the toll the Russian military has suffered in the past two weeks is mounting.
According to Ukrainian General Staff as of March 10, over 12,000 Russian soldiers were killed, while 49 Russian army aircraft, 81 helicopters, 335 tanks, 1,105 armored fighting vehicles, 123 artillery systems, 56 multiple launch rocket systems, and 29 anti-aircraft warfare systems were destroyed.
Loss of lives and property
In addition, Russian forces have lost 526 vehicles, three boats/cutters, 60 fuel tanks, and seven UAVs at the operational-tactical level in Ukraine in the last 15 days, said the General Staff.
These claims have not been verified independently.
But an assessment by the US earlier this week suggested 5,000 to 6,000 Russian troops had been killed and 2,000 to 4,000 Ukrainian troops, plus many more civilians.
Another US assessment estimated that both sides had lost 8% to 10% of the military assets that they had committed to the fighting.
There are also reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has fired eight top officials for their failures.
Ukraine Defense Secretary Oleksiy Danilov has claimed that at least eight generals have been replaced by Putin.
¡°We clearly understand what is happening in the Russian Federation,¡± he added. ¡°What¡¯s more, I can tell they¡¯re desperate.¡±
