United Nations Headquarters In New York Gets Decked Up, Celebrates Diwali For The First Time
It¡¯s for the first time that United Nations is celebrating Diwali at their headquarters.
It¡¯s for the first time that United Nations is celebrating Diwali at their headquarters. Their HQ in New York would be lit up for three evenings and it would display a lamp with the message of ¡®Happy Diwali¡¯ for everyone. The section of UN HQ was also lit up during International Yoga Day. However, it is for the first time; UN is celebrating Diwali by displaying messages.

United Nations has also declared Diwali as a non-meeting day. It was also recognized by the 69th session of the UN General Assembly through a resolution adopted on 29th December 2014.

Many Indians felt at home after seeing the message, and were quite emotional.
