Chilling Video Shows Moment When Building Collapsed In Powerful Turkey-Syria Earthquake

A massive earthquake of 7.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Turkey on Monday killing at least 300 people. The toll is threatened to climb much higher because many buildings were destroyed in the strong tremor.
The aftershock of the earthquake was felt in some other countries including Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the UK, Iraq, and Georgia.
Several videos have emerged on social media showing buildings collapsing, chandeliers in mosques swinging with tremors, and supermarkets destroyed.
Video captures exact moment
A video of the earthquake from Diyarbakir in Turkey shows a building collapsing after the tremor. The eight-second video captures the exact moment when the building is reduced to a pile of concrete and dust with a rattling thunder.

On both sides of the border, residents jolted out of sleep by the pre-dawn quake rushed outside on a cold, rainy and snowy winter night, as buildings were flattened and strong aftershocks continued.
Rescue work underway
Rescue workers and residents searched for survivors, working through tangles of metal and giant piles of concrete in multiple cities, working through tangles of metal and chunks of concrete.
There was damage to buildings and people were gathered out on snowy streets, according to images on state broadcaster TRT. According to reports, a gas pipeline close to the Kahramanmara? region is south Turkey exploded and a fire was spotted burning uncontrollably. Emergency services in the region are currently rescuing people from beneath the rubble.
Several videos doing rounds on social media purportedly showed collapsed buildings in Diyarbakir, Adana and Gaziantep regions. The epicenter of the earthquake was also reported to be near the city of Gaziantep. Anadolu Agency reported that the quake¡¯s epicentre was Pazarcik district, which lies in the Kahramanmaras region.

The earthquake lasted about a minute and shattered windows, according to a Reuters witness. The area is regularly hit by strong earthquakes. Turkey is among the most earthquake-prone countries in the world.
More than 17,000 people were killed in 1999 when a 7.6-magnitude quake struck Izmit, a city southeast of Istanbul. In 2011, a quake in the eastern city of Van killed more than 500.
