Last time Inter Milan won the Serie A title was in 2010. They were then managed by now Tottenham Hotspur coach Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese has since had spells at Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United and recently Tottenham. He also also won two two league titles in different counties - one in Spain with Real Madrid and other in England with Chelsea.
In Mourinho's last season as Inter manager, the club won the historic treble - Serie A, UEFA Champions League and Coppa Italia. Since then, Nerazzurri as they are popularly called, have won just one domestic title, the Coppa Italia, that came in 2010/11 season.
After a decade of being mere pushovers in a league dominated by Juventus who have won the title in last eight consecutive seasons, Inter Milan are finally showing some teeth and fight. After Atonio Conte took over a dud looking side, he has transformed the club into a reborn oiled machine.
After 23 games into the Serie A season, Inter Milan are top of the table, level on points with Juventus - 54 apiece. Conte's side has lost just one game all season - which incidentally came against Juventus.
His team has massively improved and boasts a squad capable of winning. A back-line with Diego Godin and Milan Skriniar looks rock solid, the midfield run by Matias Vecino and Nicolo Barella has made the team tick, while Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have wonderfully led the forward line.
What makes the team more threatening is the bench strength and Inter have plenty of that. Alexis Sanchez, Christian Eriksen, Stefano Sensi, Ashley Young and Victor Moses, are all on the books of the club and it gives them enough options to rest some key players in games and keep them ready for the big battles.
There are 15 games left in the season and Serie A has never been so tight in years. Inter Milan are posing a serious threat to Cristiano Ronaldo led Juventus. The capital club are becoming difficult to beat and they are growing in confidence.
For the first time in a decade, it looks like the Inter Milan of old is back. They are hungry and gunning for glory. They want be back where they belong - among the best clubs in Europe and a league win will do just that.
The title race is going down to the wire - Inter Milan and Juventus are level on points and third placed Lazio are just a point off at 53.
