Cody Rhodes to face Kevin Owens in ladder match for undisputed WWE championship at Royal Rumble
Kevin Owens had stolen the famed Winged Eagle belt Triple H gifted to Rhodes for ¡°one night only¡± after attacking him with a package piledriver at Saturday Night¡¯s Main Event. Rhodes made it clear that he wanted to face Owens in a match where the referee couldn't stop him.
Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will battle it out in a ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Championship on February 1st at the Royal Rumble in Indianapolis, Indiana. The first non-Rumble match announcement was made on the last episode of Friday Night SmackDown of 2024 by General Manager Nick Aldis, who demanded that Owens hand over the Winged Eagle Championship to Rhodes.

Rhodes, who confronted Owens in the ring on Friday, said he doesn't want him to hand over the Winged Eagle Championship.
Ladder match at Royal Rumble
Rhodes made it clear that he wanted to face Owens in a match where the referee couldn't stop him and challenged him to put both belts on the line in a ladder match at Royal Rumble to unify the Undisputed WWE Championship.

SmackDown General Manager Aldis then confirmed that at the Royal Rumble, the Winged Eagle and Undisputed WWE Title belts will be suspended in the air for a ladder match, where the winner has to retrieve them.
