Being a professional footballer, it can be hard being in isolation as opposed to being on the field, training every day and going on with the life as normal. Now, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Brazilian star Neymar has admitted he feels anxious not knowing when football will resume.
Despite trying too keep fit with a varied daily routine, the 28 year-old is feeling the effects of lockdown and absence of football is getting to him.
¡°Not knowing when we will play again is causing anxiety. I miss playing, competing, the atmosphere of the club and my PSG team mates. It¡¯s a real longing for football!¡± he said on his website.
¡°I¡¯m sure that the fans want to see everyone back on the pitch, the earlier the better. I hope the decision is made as quickly as possible,¡± added Neymar, who had scored 18 goals in 22 appearances for PSG before the season was halted.
All European top leagues have been suspended since March, as coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the normal order across the globe. United Kingdom, Spain, France and Italy, are the worst hit countries in Europe.
In France, football authorities are considering a plan for the rest of the Ligue 1 season to be played between mid-June and late July, with play-offs being finished by early August. Paris St Germain are the runaway league leaders with a 22-point lead at the top.
The Professional Football League (LFP) has raised June 17 as a potential start date, while the French Football Federation (FFF) says it hopes to announce a date for both men's and women's cup finals soon.
