He had even made headlines during the ODI World Cup 2023, amassing 578 runs ! the most by any batter in their debut World Cup. This incredible achievement saw him surpass cricket icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Pakistan's captain Babar Azam.

About the young lad, he was born in Wellington on November 18, 1999. His father, Ravi Krishnamurthy ! a software architect from Bengaluru ! moved to New Zealand in 1997. Cricket was always a part of Rachin's life, thanks to his father's deep passion for the sport.
Even after relocating, Ravi continued playing club cricket in New Zealand. When he was just 16, he joined New Zealand's squad for the 2016 U19 Cricket World Cup, making him the youngest player on the team. He returned for the 2018 U19 World Cup, where the ICC recognized him as one of the tournament's rising stars.

That same year, he made his List A debut for New Zealand A against Pakistan A. In November 2021, he earned his Test debut against India and while it wasn't a standout series for him, he did get a 91-ball 18* at No. 8 helping New Zealand secure a crucial draw. He later made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in 2021, marking another milestone in his growing international career.
