With just one group game remaining, Pakistan had one final chance to salvage some pride and secure at least a single win. However, fate had other plans. The much-anticipated match against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was washed out due to consistent rain, forcing the game to be called off on Thursday (February 27).
As a result, both the teams shared a point each. Unfortunately for the hosts, it wasn't enough to save them from finishing at the bottom of the Group A table with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -1.087.
What did Mohammad Rizwan say?
"We wanted to do well and perform well in from of our nation. The expectations are very high. We didn't perform well and it is disappointing for us. (Way forward) You can learn from your mistakes. We have made mistakes in the last few games. Hopefully, we can learn from these. We are next going to New Zealand and hopefully we can perform there and the mistakes that we did against New Zealand here in Pakistan, we can learn from that. And we will do better in New Zealand," said Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan.
Pakistan trolled
As soon as the match was abandoned due to rain ¡ª without even the toss taking place ¡ª social media erupted. Fans quickly took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to troll and poke fun at Pakistan's misfortune. With the team finishing last in the Group A standings, memes and jokes flooded timelines, turning their disappointment into viral entertainment.
