It was already a surprise when he starred in an advertisement calling himself "Indiranagar ka gunda," a moment that remains fresh in everyone's mind. Now, that phrase seems to be trending again after the former cricketer and World Cup-winning head coach was seen in a heated verbal exchange with an auto driver in Bengaluru, drawing attention.

Rahul Dravid is currently spending time in his hometown after a busy stint with Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. However, his visit hasn't been entirely peaceful. The incident occurred on Cunningham Road, not far from the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

What happened?

Eyewitnesses reported that Dravid initially remained calm, in line with his well-known composed demeanour. He attempted to address the situation in a soft-spoken manner; however, the auto driver appeared visibly agitated, raising his voice and creating a commotion on the busy road.

While the exact words exchanged remain unclear due to poor audio, those present at the scene stated that Dravid tried to explain that the collision was not his fault. He reportedly argued that the auto driver had braked abruptly, leaving him with little time to react. The driver, speaking in Kannada, eventually admitted fault but suggested that Dravid could have done more to prevent the crash.

Witnesses confirmed that the auto driver, who was transporting goods, applied sudden brakes, leaving Dravid with little time to stop his SUV, resulting in a minor collision. Fortunately, there were no major damages or casualties.

As of now, no FIR or police complaint has been filed regarding the incident. However, with the video going viral within minutes, law enforcement may consider looking into the matter further. Additional details are awaited.

Rahul Dravid gearing up for IPL

For those unfamiliar, Rahul Dravid guided India to victory in the T20 World Cup 2024, with Rohit Sharma leading the team to glory on June 29. That match also marked Dravid's final appearance as head coach of the Indian men's team before he transitioned into a new role with IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals.

Interestingly, the 52-year-old had previously played for Rajasthan Royals from 2011 to 2013 after a three-year stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Bengaluru).
