The crowd support for Virat Kohli on his return to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years was huge. While fans continued to cheer when he took to the field in the Elite Group D clash against Railways, they were left disheartened when he departed cheaply. Kohli lasted just 15 balls, scoring only 6 runs before being dismissed by pacer Himanshu Sangwan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
The star batter's early dismissal in the first innings sparked frustration among his fans, leading them to vent their anger on social media, with many even targeting a man with the same name as Himanshu Sangwan. Some even created fake accounts in the name of Himanshu Sangwan to troll Kohli and his fans further.
Targeting the wrong 'Himanshu Sangwan'
Fans mistakenly targeted a different Himanshu Sangwan on social media, and this particular user soon found his account flooded with hateful comments. In response, he posted a video and updated his status to clarify that he wasn't the same Himanshu Sangwan who dismissed Kohli.
Fake accounts created
Following this incident, many fans who didn't support Kohli created fake accounts in the name of Himanshu Sangwan and shared long Instagram stories about "not hating me for my previous reactions," referring to the pacer's celebration after taking the wicket. Fans shared screenshots on X (formerly known as Twitter) and slammed Kohli's supporters. However, some pointed out that these profiles were fake.

Virat Kohli's dismissal
Kohli had just made his entrance to a loud reception following the dismissal of Yash Dhull, but after facing only 15 balls, he was on his way back to the pavilion. Kohli¡¯s brief stay at the crease included some early tension, as left-arm pacer Rahul Sharma overstepped twice during his first two deliveries.
Medium pacer Kunal Yadav then tested Kohli with balls wide outside the off-stump, forcing him to play and miss. After collecting a couple of singles, Kohli decided to take on Sangwan and lofted him for a boundary.
But in the very next ball, Kohli went for an expansive drive, missing completely as the ball seamed back and shattered his off-stump. After a quick glance at the pitch, Kohli walked off, with the majority of his fans leaving the stadium shortly after.
