"I was not expecting to go much faster in my first competition after the off-season. I am happy with the 11.49, though I would have liked to a sub 11.40 to begin with," she said as per a PTI report.
"This is the first meet for me in 2020. So the start of the year has been good. I will improve by 10-15 seconds in the next tournament. I am feeling very fit at the moment, however, I have to improve my speed now," she added.
In 2019, she had beaten her own national record of 11.22 seconds is now targeting 11.15 seconds to ensure a place in the Olympics.
"The coronavirus and the resulting travel regulations make me unsure if I will get to compete in Europe. I guess I will have to seek the Olympic qualifying time in an Indian competition this season," she went on to say.
She is one of our best bets to win an Olympic medal. Yes, the Tokyo Games are still almost 5 months away but her preparation is on track. She is a contender and Dutee would no doubt love to improve her competition before the big event.
At the moment, Dutee is in a good place. One hopes she can maintain the momentum and do not be surprised if we see her on the Olympic podium.
