Everyone has been affected by coronavirus be it as a patient, someone who knows a patient or somebody in general. But it has also brought people together in order to fight this pandemic. Cricket is no exception and the Puducherry Cricket Board is showing the way.
Everyone has been affected by coronavirus be it as a patient, someone who knows a patient or somebody in general. But it has also brought people together in order to fight this pandemic. Cricket is no exception and the Puducherry Cricket Board is showing the way.
It has decided to offer its dorms as centres to treat coronavirus patients. P Damodaran, former president of CAP and state cricket nominee for BCCI meetings, wrote a letter to Lt. Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi regarding the matter.
¡±We had built a dormitory for two cricket teams to stay comfortably i.e. 30 cricketers and dining, kitchen etc in our cricket campus in Tutipet, Pondicherry. We stopped cricketing activities due to the outbreak of coronavirus. We can offer these facilities to house up to 30 corona infected patients if need be with necessary medical tie-up through Laxmi Medical College, Pondicherry,¡± Damodaran said according to a report in Hindustan Times.
This is a beautiful gesture indeed as with no cricket being played, the dorms can be put to some good use and what better option than this.
Puducherry has just one confirmed case till now but many have been quarantined.
BCCI has already suspended the IPL which was scheduled to begin on March 29 to April 15. In fact there is a chance we might have it in the July-September window.
