New Zealand's Prime Minister Wants The Black Caps To Get 'Heroes' Welcome' And We Think It's A Great Idea

New Zealand for the second straight time lost in a World Cup final and this one certainly would hurt more. Why? Because the Kiwis tied scores with England twice but lost since the other side had hit more boundaries. Sadly those were the rules and Kane Williamson's men had to settle for second best.

Jacinda Ardern, the New Zealand Prime Minister, by her own admission was 'traumatised' with the result as where most Kiwi fans. So imagine the plight of the players? They must be gutted from inside and out that they could not go over the line.

But Ardern feels that the Black Caps did their best and for that they are heroes. She feels they deserve a heroes welcome when they return.

She mentioned how she discussed it with Auckland Mayor Phil Goff.

"We've had a bit of a chat, one of the key things for both of us was getting a sense of what the Black Caps themselves would like,'' she said, according to a report in RNZ.

"Of course, they've been away for some time and just whether or not they'll all be in one place when they arrive... there's a few conversations to be had but there have been some phone calls already," she added.

The PM admits to being a cricket fan and confessed that the World Cup final was the best game she has ever seen.

"I think probably like a lot of New Zealanders I'm still feeling quite traumatised by that match. It was an incredible game, I can't recall seeing a game like it and I think it will just go down in history for just being a remarkable game of cricket," she said.

"But regardless of that final outcome I just feel incredibly proud of the Black Caps and I hope every New Zealander does because they played remarkable cricket across the course of that tournament, and they certainly did in that last match,''

Truth be told, they do deserve all the accolades for their skills, sportsman spirit and the way they accepted the loss.
