How did it get to that stage? Bangladesh posted 166/8. Sabbir Rahman led the way with 77 while Yuzvendra Chahal took 3/18.
India's run chase was led by Rohit Sharma who was leading in the absence of the rest Virat Kohli and he hit 56.
But Bangladesh struck back with wickets meaning the required run rate went up. Karthik walked out with 5 wickets in hand and 34 needed from 2 overs. The 19th over went for 22 runs and 12 were needed from 6 balls.
Vijay Shankar perished but Karthik was able to get on strike when the final ball was to be bowled and we come back to where we started. 5 needed from 1 and Sarkar bowls.
Karthik backed away, went inside out and the ball headed to the boundary in aerial mode. It seemed a Super Over was on the cards, but it would not be needed. The ball sailed over the top of the ropes into the stands and it was a six!
The scenes after that were unbelievable as the fans celebrated. A majority of the Sri Lankan crowd was supporting India and Bangladesh could not believe their bad luck. The Indian players hailed their hero Karthik who was playing as M Dhoni was rested. Bangladeshi players and fans were distraught as Karthik had broken their hearts.
Over five years on, memories of that game are fresh in the minds of players and fans on both sides of the border. Only the impact will be slightly different.
