Sanju Samson, High On Talent But Undone By His Own Inconsistency
When opportunity knocks at your door, you still have to get up and open the door. This rule counts when you are not the first-string player in Team India and if you get a chance, you make it count. Sadly in the case of Sanju Samson. It has not been happening.
When opportunity knocks at your door, you still have to get up and open the door. This rule counts when you are not the first-string player in Team India and if you get a chance, you make it count. Sadly in the case of Sanju Samson. It has not been happening.
He got two instances to prove himself vs New Zealand and failed with the bat on both occasions. With KL Rahul already being considered as main keeper, the odds of Samson being considered for the gloves are pretty low.
In 6 years he has been picked for just 11 games till now across ODIs and T20Is and is yet to be picked for Tests.
Having said that, the man does have talent. His performances in the IPL and domestic T20 games prove his potential. Unfortunately, whenever he has got that opportunity to come good for India, he has flattered to deceive. With the World T20 around the corner, Samson needs to pull up his socks. Repeated failures may see him out of the reckoning altogether. He is 27, not exactly the young kid he was once. So time to make it count.
His case has always been the talented player who has not performed at the top level. It's a tag he must shed quickly if he wants to become the main player for the Men in Blue.
