Six Times Cricketers Never Had Bright Things To Say About The Duckworth-Lewis System
Even Sunil Gavaskar wasn't in favour of the D/L method
The Duckworth-Lewis method might bless a cricket match with a result but it sure leaves at least one team scarred. If one side benefits, the other cries out hoarse for being served a remotely unjust result. We see matches change their course drastically soon after the Duckworth-Lewis system is applied after rain.
After having spent so many years in world cricket, MS Dhoni was recently asked his views on the opinion. Trust him, his quick-witted reply wasn't quite sweet.
This reminds us of the time when cricketers of repute did not have great things to say about the renowned, match-deciding system.
1. MS Dhoni - ''I don't think even ICC understands Duckworth Lewis."
2. Stephen Fleming - ¡°There's a real anomaly in Duckworth-Lewis, it is rubbish for Twenty20.¡±
3. Sunil Gavaskar - ¡°In all fairness ICC should have tried the Jayadevan method for a year, like they do with trial laws, and then decided."
4. Shaun Pollock - "The first time I saw a Duckworth-Lewis sheet - well, to be honest, I can't remember. Duckworth and Lewis certainly aren't on my Christmas card list."
5. Peter Randerson, Heathcoat Cricket Club - ¡°We had to make nine runs less than Exeter in 12 fewer overs, which is ludicrous."
