There's No Doubt That Yuvraj Singh Deserves A Proper Farewell And His Fans Definitely Want That To Happen
He announced his retirement from the game.
Yuvraj Singh's retirement is the end of an era as far as Indian cricket is concerned. In fact the last link to the golden generation of the early 2000s is officially severed. The sad thing is that the southpaw could not go out in a blaze of glory as he was not in the scheme of things for the last 2 years. We would have loved to watch him one last time in Indian colours but it's not to be.

Of course tributes have been pouring in all from all quarters and why not? The man has left an impression on the game which will last well after he is no longer involved. Be it fans, celebs or former teammates, the accolades were pouring on on the left-hander. But people were miffed about one thing. Why no proper farewell for the icon? Yuvraj himself had said that he did not want a farewell game as he wanted to play only if he was deserving. But one can't expect fans to be that rational as they are blinded by the love and respect they have for him.

He's not the first Indian big name not to get a proper farewell. The likes of Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir too did not go out on a high so to speak. Nonetheless the popular consensus is that he deserves a farewell worthy of the value he had as a player in the side. Fans are pushing for it hard and Twitter flooded big time as #YuviDeservesProperFarewell trended on a high scale. Check it out:

Of course the lack of a proper farewell is no reflection on Yuvraj's talent. He was the most stylish batsman we have seen in the 21st century and watching him bat was sheer poetry for the eyes. Our generation is fortunate to have witnessed him play and we are grateful that more often than not he delivered the goods for Team India.
