This Paralympian Swimmer Had A Narrow Escape After Being Chased By Two Sharks
Spanish paralympian swimmer Ariel Schrenck Martinez had a near-death experience in the sea. The 19-year-old was about 330 feet from shore when his mother spotted sharks swimming closer to the shore than he was. He started swimming for his life while his mother kept yelling at him to get out of the water.
We have heard people sharing many nerve tangling near-death experiences. But the one involving Spanish paralympian swimmer and his great escape from frightening sharks is simply terrifying.
The incident took place recently when Ariel Schrenck Martinez planned to do some practice in the nearby sea. Martinez, along with his mother, went to coast of Sant Feliu de Guixols on Spain¡¯s Costa Brava, according to various reports.
However, what seemed a regular practice drill was soon marred by a chilling experience when he was about 330 feet from shore, his mother spotted sharks swimming closer to the shore than he was.
The 19-year-old was about 100 metres from shore when he started swimming for his life while his mother kept yelling at him to get out of the sea.
Once he was successful got to the sea after a near-death encounter, Martinez told Spanish TV channel Antena 3 Deportes, ¡°My mom started to shout like a crazy woman that there were sharks in the water. At that moment my body started panicking terribly and I started swimming like a madman.¡±
Martinez said he is not in top shape but put his ¡°heart and soul¡± into swimming for his life back to shore.
His mother told the channel she shouted at him ¡°so he could get out of the water.¡±
What makes the tale all the more remarkable is the fact Martinez only has one arm. He¡¯s on Spain's B-Swim team and competed at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London.
