When it comes to numbers, well they do tell a story. Three NBA championships, four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, three NBA Finals MVP Awards, three NBA All-Star Game MVP Awards, two Olympic gold medals, an NBA scoring title, and the NBA Rookie of the Year Award. Add to that 2 Olympic gold medals and a bronze along with a World Championship bronze and Americas Championship gold. Now that is a rich haul to be proud of.
Like all budding stars, he started playing the game at an early age. But it was only when he was 9 when his mother allowed him to move in with the family of Frank Walker, a local youth football coach. It was from there that things began to change.
There was no doubt about his talent. He averaged 21 points in high school games and in 2003, Cleveland Cavaliers picked him in the NBA draft. He was the first pick of the draft. He was with them till 2010 before resuming in 2014. He went to Miami Heat in between. In 2018 Los Angeles Lakers signed him up.
The man has over 33,000 career points. He certainly has the chance to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's (38,387) all-time record.
He turns 36 this year and nobody knows how long he will go on. But for the moment, let's enjoy him play on the court.
