Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman has opened up about the reason for his absence from the ring. Strowman blamed 'some kind of bug' that made him very sick for missing the SmackDown and Raw Netflix premiere this week.
Lost 16 kg in a week
The Monster Among Men took to Instagram and said he lost 36 pounds (16 kg) in a week due to the illness.
"2025 has been off to a ruff start for me. I picked up some kind of a bug last week and it had absolutely whipped my ass. I laid in a hotel room for four days, three with a fever of 102 or higher for the first three days," Strowman said.
The 41-year-old revealed that he was diagnosed with a very bad flu and added that he was getting better.
"A week later I am finally over what I think is the hump. My severe body aches are finally easing up. Today is the first day I have been able to move around and really do anything. I have lost 36lbs in this week," he said.
Will be back in the ring soon
Strowman, who called the health scare 'another speed bump in the road,' promised to be back in the ring soon.
"I will be back bigger, stronger and badder than ever!!! There hasn¡¯t been anything this life has thrown at me that I haven¡¯t been able to OVERCOME and this sure as hell isn¡¯t gonna stop me in having one of my best years to date," he said.
On SmackDown, Strowman was scheduled to be a part of the main event, in a six-man tag team match featuring Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso against The Bloodline. But later, WWE announced that Jey Uso was replacing Strowman, without giving any explanation for the change.
