The iPhone SE 2 Might Have An iPhone X-Like Notch, But No One Seems To Agree About It
With the iPhone SE 2 just around the corner, the rumour mill is working overtime. Unfortunately, not everyone's on the same page with what these rumours promise.
With the iPhone SE 2 just around the corner, the rumour mill is working overtime. Unfortunately, not everyone's on the same page with what these rumours promise.
The latest comes from Japanese blog Mac Otakara that insists one of the prototypes for the new device features an iPhoneX-like notch.

According to the blog, the new iPhone SE 2 also has the flagship¡¯s almost bezel-less display, and a glass back but no home button. Other prototypes, it says, are the traditional SE 2 except with a glass back, possibly to allow for wireless charging.
Render creator Ben Geskin seems to confirm this rumour, having recently posted photos of what appears to be the display glass of the iPhone SE 2¡¯s size, with a cutout for the TruDepth camera but not a home button.

However, in the following tweet, he said his ¡°main source¡¯ claims the iPhone SE 2 will have the same old design and display as the current model, but a glass rear panel.
I have to say, that my main source is saying that SE2 will have the same design (and display) as the first SE, but with a glass back.

Still another render from case maker Olixar, obtained by MacRumors, shows a new iPhone SE with the iPhone X¡¯s display pattern, but an aluminium frame like on the current model. This is supposedly from a ¡°reliable¡± manufacturing source in China.
The thing is, if the iPhone SE 2 sticks to the same size as expected, it won¡¯t have the width to house an actual TrueDepth camera. That means it could remove the home button and have a notch, just not FaceID. That in itself is ridiculous, as Apple isn¡¯t likely to remove the reliable fingerprint scanner only to put in facial recognition technology not up to its current standard. In addition, perhaps the leaks don¡¯t refer to a new iPhone SE at all, but instead one of the new, smaller, iPhone X versions supposed to come in.
As such, no one really knows for sure what form the iPhone SE 2 will take.Whichever approach it follows though, the device is expected to be rebooted for the third quarter this year, meaning it could appear alongside the other new flagships incoming in September.
