Why The Dell Alienware 15 Is A Unique Gaming Laptop That Is Truly Out Of This World
This gaming machine is out of this world!
There are gaming laptops. Then there's the Alienware... in a class of its own.
Gaming laptops aren¡¯t new by any means. Each brand tries to differentiate their offering from its competitors in terms of looks and the obvious gaming experience. In a monotonous market, it's difficult to leave a lasting impression. That's where Alienware machines differ, offering an aggressive, unique look and feel which is synonymous with the games that you play on it.
Dell¡¯s subsidiary Alienware is known to offer top-of-the-line gaming hardware in an eye-catching laptop shell with a characteristic Alien DNA, which actually makes them look quite extra-terrestrial. Now, Dell has done it again with its newly unveiled Alienware 15 gaming notebook, and here are some reasons why this gaming machine is truly out of this world.
The WOW Display
Many of us dream of getting a 4K TV or a 4K gaming monitor. Well, this tiny gaming machine has a 4K UHD display with a 3840x2160 pixel resolution screen fit into a rather compact 15-inch form factor. What does this result in? Something my words can hardly describe! You really need to look into this panel to see how good it truly looks.
Still, let's try: Super sharp gaming detail and brilliant viewing experience. Not forgetting, the display has amazing viewing angles with minimal colour shift on the edges. Also, watching Netflix or Hotstar on this bad boy is better than most laptops you'd find in the market, thanks to its rad in-built speakers.
The Alien's Armour
No doubt this machine's a looker, sure, but it is also built well, with a combination of aluminium and polycarbonate shell. It¡¯s not the sleekest laptop by any means, as the vents at the bottom take up most space, making this a thick heavy monstrosity. However, looking at the bulky Alienware laptops in the past, this one has shed a lot of weight and still capable of a ride to a LAN gaming party.
The top lid has an aluminium plate with the chrome alien head glowing. The lid gets three interconnecting lines which then join with the alien head, adding a bit of a character to the ordinary laptop lid. On the inside, you have this rubberised coating which adds a good grip while typing as well as gaming. This coating also makes the internal space a big smudge magnet, and getting it off isn¡¯t easy.
Speaking about the keyboard, it's a cropped backlit keyboard with a missing number pad which delivers a pleasant typing experience, thanks to adequate key spacing and decent key travel feedback. We would've loved to see a full-sized keyboard, which could have easily fit in here, but can't expect the Alien to deliver the world. The bottom reveals the exhaust vents which cools the hardware, just so the Alien isn't set on fire during those frenetic gaming sessions.
3. The Guts Of The Alien
Any gaming machine is as good as the hardware it packs with it. For all the nerds out there this machine this machine is a pure beast on the outside as well as the inside. For starters, the machine is powered by an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor clocked at 2.60GHz, paired with a whopping 32GB of DDR4 memory. For tackling the power-hungry games, the machine comes loaded with a GeForce GTX 1070 GPU with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. You also get 2TB of HDD storage to load the machine with a plethora of games.
Now the nerds might be thinking, that the GPU might feel overpowered with the 4K resolution that the laptop display is offering. However, the GPU can still beat the games to a pulp if you tone down the resolution. If you still want to enjoy gaming in 4K resolution, you can always purchase an external Alienware Graphics Amplifier and install it with a GeForce GTX 1080Ti to game smoothly in 4K -- adding to the cost, though.
4. LED Bling-a-Ling
One of the reasons why Alienware machines are still popular is due to the numerous LED lighting zones that literally made it stand out of the crowd. The new Alienware 15, too, brings along numerous lighting zones which can be customised according to the user¡¯s choice.
From the edges of the laptop to the keyboard, the Alienware branding below the display, the trackpad and even the Alien head on the lid and the power switch. The Alienware Command Centre app easily lets you tweak the lighting zones and the result is a custom gaming laptop which looks really amazing while gaming in the dark.
5. The Tobi Eye Tracker
If you thought that all the features on top were amazing, then that¡¯s just the tip of the iceberg. What makes this gaming laptop truly out of this world is the Tobii eye tracking module that's located beside the webcam on the Alienware 15.As the name suggests, Tobii eye tracking module tracks your eye movement and reflects the same in the game world, which you would normally do with your keyboard and your mouse. The eye movement will move the in-game camera, in the direction your eyeball and even allow the character to walk or move in the direction your eyes are pointing at. Moreover, the feedback is instantaneous and accurate which makes taking instant movements a breeze.
However, this tracking feature isn¡¯t just limited to games. The tracker can be configured to perform certain gestures for even regular use. For example, you have a feature where Tobii tracks your eye movement, and the moment your eyes move away from the screen, the app dims the display, and when you look at it again, it lights up, without you touching the mouse or keyboard. How cool is that?
Conclusion
Dell Alienware 15 is one amazing gaming machine which doesn't only pack in hardware to conquer modern games but offers a unique, distinctive look. The machine packs in very good hardware, a stunning display, bling to awe everyone looking at it, and the Tobii eye tracker, which makes the gaming experience more accurate and fun. Dell Alienware 15 delivers something really distinct and out-of-the-world in every sense. Too bad it will only set you back by Rs 2,34,990. But we never said the Alien would be affordable.
