iOS 11 Causing Problems? Here Are 11 Simple Ways In Which You Can Save Your iPhone's Battery
Make your smartphone survive iOS 11.
While iOS 11 had us mesmerized with its new looks and updated control centre, it definitely is speeding up battery consumption on older iPhones across the board.
If you¡¯re one of those affected by the terrible battery performance after upgrading your iPhone to iOS 11, we¡¯ve got 11 tips to boost your iPhone's battery life and keep it afloat until the next update arrives.
1. Enable Low Power Mode
Enabling Low Power mode improves battery life by reducing the performance down a bit. You may never really notice the change in performance, but there is a considerable bump up in the battery life. In order to enable Low Power mode, go to Settings=>Battery=> Enable Low Power Mode.
2. Find Battery Killers
There are some apps that tend to suck a lot of juice, even while being inactive. Go to Settings=> Battery and look for apps and the amount of battery it consumes. Close that app or uninstall it to prevent it from affecting your battery performance.
3. Disable Location services for apps
Certain unnecessary apps end up using the GPS in the background which ends up hampering the battery life on the smartphone. Simply go to Settings=>Privacy=>Location Services=>Disable Location Services for the apps you rarely use or don¡¯t want to use GPS for.
4. Disable Fitness Tracking
iPhones come with an in-built pedometer which tracks your steps and activity. If you really don¡¯t need this tracking to be on all the time, simply disable the fitness tracking to get more juice on your battery. Head on to Settings=>Privacy=> Motion and Fitness=> Disable Fitness Tracking.
5. Disable Screen Animations
iOS screen transitions and animations might look beautiful but they have a considerable toll on the battery performance. Go to Settings=>General=>Accessibility=>Select Reduce Motion=>Disable it
6. Disable Wi-Fi when not in use
This is a very common problem among smartphone users. After being on Wi-Fi at home or at work, they tend to keep the Wi-Fi on while commuting, which in-turn sucks more battery as it is constantly looking for networks to connect to. Disable the Wi-Fi while commuting or while consuming mobile data.
7. Enable Automatic Brightness
Irregular screen brightness in dark conditions not only affects battery life but also your eyes. Enable Automatic Brightness by going to Settings=>Display and Brightness=>Enable Automatic Brightness. This will make sure there is appropriate screen brightness at appropriate times.
8. Disable Raise to Wake
iPhones come with a feature that wakes up the display the moment you pick it up. This uses the accelerometer and gravity sensor to make this happen. And while it is a cool feature, the accidental wakes consume quite a bit of battery. So in order to disable this go to Settings=>Display and Brightness=>Disable Raise to Wake.
9. Disable App Suggestions
App Store¡¯s App Suggestions might be helpful, but they end up using a lot of data and battery in the background to constantly suggest apps. Swipe down the screen to open the notification centre=>Swipe left to open Today¡¯s views=>Scroll to the end=>Tap Edit=>Tap the red dot besides Siri App Suggestions=>Tap Remove.
10. Disable Background App Refresh
Some apps decide to run in the background and suck a ton of battery while doing so. And while some crucial apps can be allowed to this, some apps don¡¯t really need to. Go to Settings=>General=>Background App Refresh=> Disable the apps that you don¡¯t want to be refreshed constantly.
11. Update all apps
The App store ends up updating with new versions of apps every day. However, if you let the apps update on their own, they end up causing irregularities in battery performance. Instead update all the apps together by entering the Updates section and tapping ¡¯Update All¡¯ to prevent further irregularities.
