She found an unknown AirTag was with her after her iPhone gave a series of notifications, warning her about it. She even tried to take a different route on her way to see if it was just random AirTags in traffic that were getting flagged.
If you don¡¯t know, AirTags are what you can attached to shit so you don¡¯t lose it. But someone put one of theirs *on my car*. It was 2 am and I was driving away with no cars around me and I kept getting this alert for like 30 mins straight. pic.twitter.com/qpodvYAphV

However, soon after she realised that an AirTag was with her in the car, with no other car in the vicinity. She checked her things -- wallet, jacket, clothes to find it, but couldn¡¯t find the AirTag anywhere.

She spent the night in the car, scared that she could give the coordinates to her home to the random stalker. Later in the morning, a friend helped her search for the AirTag, which was spotted on the front passenger wheel well of the car. The person threw the AirTag away, so she couldn¡¯t get the serial number/ ID to make a formal complaint.

In case you remember, AirTags use Apple¡¯s FindMy network, which helps it connect online piggybacking on other Apple devices near it, thus not needing data connectivity on its own. This feature can be both a boon as well as a curse.
It is not confirmed if the AirTag was actually used to stalk @SEGA_Jeanasis. However, this also goes to show how the AirTag can be safe for an iPhone user, notifying them about an unknown AirTag close to them. Whereas Android users won¡¯t really get any such notification.

A report by 9to5Mac highlights that even though AirTags are end-to-end encrypted, meaning Apple can¡¯t really know who the AirTag belongs to, if a formal complaint is made, with the physical AirTag in possession and with a valid court order, Apple could ID the original purchaser of the AirTag.
