Apple CEO Tim Cook Made $125 Million In 2019 Which Was 8 Percent Less Than 2018: Here's Why
As per recent reports, since Apple couldn¡¯t exceed its financial targets as much as 2018, Tim Cook¡¯s overall salary saw a considerable decrease. He made over $125 million in total compensation in 2019.
From an iPhone to the iMac Pro, in 2019, Apple made products to make people happy. They won hearts of their fans (while also drilling a big hole in their pocket), however, this didn¡¯t translate well to the sales the Cupertino giant was expecting in 2019. The poor performance has now reflected in the payout received by Apple CEO Tim Cook.
As per recent reports, since Apple couldn¡¯t exceed its financial targets as much as 2018, Tim Cook¡¯s overall salary saw a considerable decrease. He made over $125 million in total compensation in 2019.
According to an SEC filing, Tim Cook¡¯s annual salary was $3 million -- similar to his 2018 salary. What decreased was the bonus that he received this year -- $7.67 million from the $12 million he earned in 2018.
Just like Sundar Pichai or Satya Nadella or other tech CEOs, Tim Cook is also offered stock options. In 2019, Cook managed to make $113.5 million from the shares he owns -- 8 percent less than 2018 when he managed to make $136 million.
Now Apple did manage to beat its sales targets -- making $256.1 billion -- as well as annual operating income at $60.1 billion. However, these weren¡¯t high enough for Tim Cook to meet his bonus targets.
Recently, Sundar Pichai got promoted to being the CEO of Alphabet while also getting an annual package of $2 million and $240 million in the form of time-based stock options.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also had a good year, receiving a 66 percent hike in his overall income, along with $1 million base salary bump and $42.9 million in the form of stock awards in 2019.
It¡¯ll be interesting to see how 2020 lines up for Apple as it plans to bring some major changes in its iPhone¡¯s design and hardware, along with a triple-camera setup for its iPad Pro.
