Apple iPhone 9 Spotted On Chinese E-Commerce Website, May Launch Soon
Apple iPhone 9, the budget iPhone model, supposed to launch this month was recently spotted on Chinese ecommerce website JD.com. While the listing has been taken down, it surely stands as a proof to the nearing launch date of the smartphone.
The anticipated launch date is April 15 for now, pushed from the earlier March 31 citing the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. The placeholder page put up by JD.com eight days before that can be taken as an affirmation that Apple will be launching the iPhone 9, probably both its models - iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus. Note that there is no official confirmation by Apple on this.
A microsite, as indicated by MySmartPrice report, was created for the iPhone 9 on JD.com which has now been taken down. A screenshot of the same can be seen below.
The listing can also be a possible answer to a mystery on the moniker to be carried by the upcoming budget iPhones. Two schools of thoughts mentioned the name to be iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9. The latter, however, gains more confidence online.
No specifications of the iPhone 9 were mentioned in the listing. Earlier reports have hinted at some though and as per one, the iPhone 9 Plus will come with a 5.5-inch display, larger than iPhone 9¡¯s 4.7-inch LCD. The core specifications of the two models will remain the same, including an A13 Bionic chipset, TouchID and NFC scanning, a first in the iPhone family.
They will, however, miss out on FaceID as the security will instead be handled by Touch ID-enabled home button.
