AirPods 3, New MacBook Pro, Mac Mini: What To Expect From Apple¡¯s Event Tonight
Leaks have hinted that the 2021 MacBooks could feature a flatter design, reminiscent of the iPhones and the iPads with slimmer bezels and the chin could get rid of the MacBook Pro branding too.
Apple¡¯s second fall event of this year is scheduled for tonight at 10:30 PM IST, and while last month¡¯s event showcased the new iPhones, iPads and Apple Watch, this event is going to have something in store for MacBook lovers.
How to watch the Apple October event?
The invite shared last week revealed that the event is scheduled to commence by 10:00 AM PDT, which is 10:30 PM IST (Indian Time) tonight. In case you wish to watch the event live as things unfold in India, there are a few ways you can catch the keynote.
On a PC, you have the option to tune in to Apple.com to stream it on your web browser. You can visit the site by clicking here. You can also catch the live stream via Apple¡¯s official YouTube channel by clicking here.
New Macbook Pro
Last year, we saw Apple transition from the Intel MacBook Pros to the M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pros that were better in every possible way. However, they looked a lot similar to their Intel counterparts. This year, we could expect a considerable redesign with two form factors -- 14 inches and 16 inches MacBook Pros.
Leaks (reported first by MacRumours) have hinted that the 2021 MacBooks could feature a flatter design, reminiscent of the iPhones and the iPads with slimmer bezels and the chin could get rid of the MacBook Pro branding too.

A recent leak also hinted that the screens could get a tiny notch on top, in Apple¡¯s bezel-less endeavour. Leaker hints that the notch would be similar to that of the iPhone 12, and maybe, we could also see FaceID features on the MacBook Pro.
The display could feature a mini-LED panel, allowing Apple to make the display fit in a thin enclosure and whilst offering OLED-like colours and contrasts. We could also see ProMotion make its debut on the MacBook Pros, although the chances are looking quite slim.
Another inclusion that would be music to the ears of creative professionals, is the inclusion of an SD card reader and even an HDMI port, along with the USB-C ports and headphone jack.
What could also make its return on MacBooks is MagSafe that could feature a similar magnetic charging port, albeit, hopefully with faster charging? We could also say goodbye to the touch bar and instead embrace a row of physical function keys.
Under the hood, we could see a faster variant of the M1 to power the new MacBook Pros -- M1X -- which could feature a 10-core CPU, along with 10-core or 32-core GPU options. The base variants are expected to start with 16GB and go all the way up to 64GB

Mac Mini
Last year, we saw a refreshed Mac mini with the new M1 processor, however, aesthetically it still looked a lot like the old Mac mini. This year, we could see a faster variant of the Mac mini running the M1X, as well as some new design cues -- maybe, slightly better design to accommodate more cooling?
Leaks are hinting at a plexiglass-like top that sits over the aluminium enclosure that could make it stand apart from its predecessors. In the ports department, you could expect four Thunderbolt ports, two USB-A ports, an Ethernet port and an HDMI port. We could also see Apple switch to the new power connector seen on the M1 iMacs.
AirPods 3
The new AirPods have been spotted in leaks countless times, and it seems like Apple could unveil them at this event. These will replace the low-end AirPods Gen 2 with a complete redesign, looking similar to the AirPods Pro, with a smaller stem and angled audio driver casing.

But that¡¯s where the similarities with the AirPods Pro end. Don¡¯t expect it to sound as good as the AirPods Pro and it also won¡¯t feature noise-cancellation capabilities.
