Apple Wants To Remove SIM Card Slots From Future iPhones
Goodbye SIM cards? The new iPhone 14 lineup by Apple is expected to be revealed on September 7 and rumours are afoot
Apple wants to say goodbye to physical SIM cards. Yep, the company that killed the headphone jack is now eyeing SIM cards. The new iPhone 14 lineup by Apple is expected to be revealed on September 7, but rumours of what to expect in next year's devices are already afoot.
For starters, Bloomberg reported that iPhones models next year could come without a SIM card slot. It is reportedly part of Apple's push to move towards eSIMs.
It's also entirely possible that some iPhone 14 models that are coming this week could come without a SIM card slot. Even then, it seems unlikely for the change to be implemented before next year's iPhone 15 series.
The allure of eSIMs on iPhones
eSIM work by allowing users to avail their cellular plan without using a physical SIM card. Even then, eSIM cards are not available in all countries, implying that iPhone models may come with a physical SIM card slot for the foreseeable future.

Activating an eSIM is also easy. Users have to simply follow a few steps after connecting to Wi-Fi and an eSIM profile then may be set up. eSIM profiles are also convenient for people who do a lot of international travel.
According to Mac Rumours, the removal of iPhone's SIM card slot could help improve the iPhone's resistance to water while also freeing up a tiny amount of space inside the device.
