Developed by KShark Apps under the guidance of entrepreneur Kartik Sharma, Carbon Scanner has managed to get over 50,000 downloads in just a matter of three days. The app makes the most of Cloud OCR technology to accurately detect images of documents and turn them completely digital.
Recently, Indian authorities went ahead and banned 59 Chinese apps from Indian app stores, including really popular apps like TikTok. And among these 59 apps was one app that was a godsend -- a document scanner app can would allow digital scans of documents easily -- called CamScanner.

However, this app had several security flaws that caused it to get banned in India. In case you were really missing this handy app and are looking for alternatives, an Indian app maker has launched an app called Carbon Scanner that does all of those things, while also being really safe to use.

Is Carbon Scanner safe to use?
While we don¡¯t really know how safe the app is, the developer does proudly claim it to be way safer than the banned CamScanner. This is primarily because the documents that are captured using the app are stored on the user¡¯s phone.
The app doesn¡¯t store the documents on servers from the beginning. It, however, does allow people to store the documents straight to their personal cloud accounts like Dropbox or Google Drive. The app also offers a VIP upgrade tier that offers features like PDF password lock, document signing feature etc.

CamScanner alternative Carbon Scanner is available to download for free on Google Play Store. For now, there is no iOS app, however, according to Kartik, it is under development.
