Carry Minati YouTube Account Gets Hacked With Twitter-Like Bitcoin Scam
On Saturday at roughly around 3:00 AM, two gaming streams asked for Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Twitter¡¯s recent hack was definitely one of the worst we¡¯ve seen in a long time, affecting high-profile accounts of people like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Elon Musk among several others and asking their followers to add money to bitcoin.
And now, weeks later, something similar has occurred with Carry Minati, but this time it¡¯s his YouTube account.
Even though Carry Minati AKA Ajey Nagar got popular recently because of the TikTok rant that got his account millions of followers, he¡¯s primarily known for streaming games on YouTube. He has a second channel called CarryisLive where is normally does this.
As per reports, on Saturday at roughly around 3:00 AM, two gaming videos were streamed on Carry Minati's YouTube channel that were asking for Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Soon Carry Minati tweeted notifying YouTube about this unauthorised access, stating, "YouTubeIndia My channel Carryislive has been hacked, need immediate assistance."
The two videos that were streamed (which are now deleted) were named ¡®Ethereum Earning Call¡¯ and ¡®Charity Stream: Help Assam and Bihar.¡¯ The extent of the damage is still unknown.
This attack comes a day after Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak along with 17 others have filed a lawsuit against the video streaming platform for not stopping such bitcoin scams.
The 47-page complaint revolves around a ruse that has used images of Wozniak and other tech moguls such as Bill Gates and Elon Musk to fool people out of the digital currency Bitcoin. Videos spread on YouTube as part of the scheme entice viewers to send their bitcoins to an anonymous digital address, promising to return double that amount. But people never get the money back.
Wozniak claims that not only YouTube is allowing such videos to be on the platform for months, but it also makes money by selling ads on those videos. He said, ¡°If YouTube had acted quickly to stop this to a reasonable extent, we would not be here now.¡±
