Chinese Website Shows Over 24,000 Dead By Coronavirus, And Over 1.5 Lakh People Still Suffering
According to reports, Tencent, China¡¯s second-largest conglomerate, accidentally displayed figures for the impact of Coronavirus on Saturday that showed over 154,023 people were infected by the virus and over 24,589 actually dead -- which is more than ten times and 80 times respectively what Chinese state media is reporting right now.
It won't be an exaggeration to say that the entire world is on tenterhooks, amidst fears of catching the Wuhan Coronavirus -- with the disease spreading from China like wildfire.
Official Chinese reports have pegged the death toll to have crossed 500, with 3000 new cases of Coronavirus contractions reported in the last week. However, many feel that these numbers aren¡¯t accurate and the death toll has crossed over 24,589 people.
China¡¯s second-largest conglomerate, Tencent accidentally displayed figures for the Coronavirus on a Chinese website this past Saturday, which showed over 154,023 people were infected by the virus and over 24,589 actually dead -- which is several times more than what the official Chinese state media has reported till now.
This particular website also showed at least 78,808 people in the suspected cases section -- four times more than the actual numbers.
First reported by Taiwan News, this was seen on Tencent¡¯s Epidemic Situation Tracker website. However, moments after displaying the aforementioned numbers, the display changed it to the official figures of 14,446 infected and 304 dead.
It won¡¯t be the first time the Chinese Communist Party is under-reporting casualties related official figures. Reports have also revealed that crematorium workers in Wuhan -- the place where it all began -- that human corpses are being sent to them, but not being added to the official records.
Although we strongly recommend you take this with a pinch of salt, as we don¡¯t exactly know whether it was the real figures or some error on the part of the team responsible for updating the numbers, it is astonishing nonetheless.
