Microsoft is allowing Windows Insiders to experience Windows 11 before it¡¯s officially launched. And in case you don¡¯t mind a slightly buggy user experience, here¡¯s how you can experience Windows 11.

Check system requirements

Before you proceed to sign up for the Windows Insider program, make sure that your system is compatible to run Windows 11 in the first place.

You might presume that since your existing system runs Windows 10 fine, it would be more than capable of running Windows 11, and while this could be true for most of you guys, some might require an upgrade in their hardware.

Here are the PC requirements for Windows 11, as listed on Microsoft¡¯s website. Also, you should additionally see if your CPU is compatible with the OS. Most Intel CPUs starting 8th generation are compatible. Here¡¯s a list of compatible CPUs for Windows 11.

Create a backup

In case you¡¯re one of the lucky ones who has a compatible system, you need to make sure that your current system is properly backed up -- this includes your personal files in the C drive as well as other partitions if any.

Sure, Windows 11 update won¡¯t erase all the files on your hard drive, but if something were to go wrong, you could lose your precious data, so it¡¯s better to be safe than sorry.

Sign up for Windows Insider Program

Register/Login using your Hotmail or Outlook account with the Windows Insider Program. After completing the sign-up process, you need to head to Windows Settings > Updates & Security > Windows Insider Program. Here it will also show you if your system is compatible to run Windows 11. It will also ask you to enable diagnostic data to progress if it was initially disabled. If everything¡¯s a-ok, you can proceed further.

Next, it¡¯ll show you three channel options -- Dev Channel which will get the latest Windows feature updates but is also the most buggy, a Beta Channel if you want more reliable updates, and a Release Preview Channel which will have the latest version of Windows with ongoing advanced quality features.

Windows 11 is currently only available on the Dev channel, so select that option and proceed. After this is done, just check the Updates section and in no time you should be able to see Windows 11 downloading as a part of the update.

Windows 11¡¯s Insider build might bring fresh new features, but along with that, it will also bring a buggy user experience.
