Elon Musk's "Loneliness" After Breakup With Amber Heard Could Be More Serious Than We Think
Eccentric serial entrepreneur with the blues or is there more than just heartbreak at play here?
Elon Musk decided to get surprisingly personal recently, opening up about his most recent relationship with actress Amber Heard, and its end.
The Tesla CEO laid out a few details in the latest Rolling Stone, telling the magazine he was ¡°really in love¡± with the 31-year-old Hollywood star, right up until they decided to split this past August.

¡°I just broke up with my girlfriend,¡± Musk said in the interview, ¡°It hurt bad. Well, she broke up with me more than I broke up with her, I think.¡±
Heard and Musk took their relationship public only this April, after months of being just friends, though rumour mills suspect they may have been dating longer than that. Unfortunately for Musk, he says he¡¯s not at his best without a partner, and that he can¡¯t be happy if he¡¯s not with a potential long-term companion.
¡°That¡¯s what I would say [as a child],¡± Musk said. ¡°I don¡¯t want to be alone.¡±
¡°I will never be happy without having someone. Going to sleep alone kills me. It¡¯s not like I don¡¯t know what that feels like: being in a big empty house, and the footsteps echoing through the hallway, no one there -- and no one on the pillow next to you. F**k. How do you make yourself happy in a situation like that?¡±
¡°Is there anybody you think I should date?¡± he asked interviewer Neil Strauss. ¡°It¡¯s so hard for me to even meet people. I¡¯m looking for a long-term relationship. I¡¯m not looking for a one-night stand. I¡¯m looking for a serious companion or soulmate, that kind of thing.¡±
Both Musk and Heard seem to have remained friends after their breakup, but there might be more to the tech icon¡¯s tale than he lets on.
For instance, it¡¯s common knowledge that Musk¡¯s Twitter account is one of the most eccentric experiences on the platform. He regularly tweets out strange one liners and jokes, though it¡¯s all in good fun. The problem comes in when things take a slightly darker turn.
A little red wine, vintage record, some Ambien ... and magic!

For those of you that don¡¯t know, Ambien is a sedative, something that can be very dangerous when mixed with alcohol. When you take the eccentricities, the seeming impulsiveness in business ventures, the loneliness, and the tweet above, you get a picture that looks far too much like depression. Unfortunately, Elon Musk is also incredibly smart, a billionaire, and a visionary. That¡¯s a small subset of people least likely to have friends scrutinise their mental health, and even less likely to have someone encourage them to receive help.
Hey, it¡¯s by far much better that these suspicions are wrong and Musk is fin, if just a little heartbroken. But just in case there¡¯s some basis to this, maybe someone should be talking to the man that wants to one day leave for Mars and never come back?
