Facebook announced the plans for such a neural device at the company¡¯s annual meeting. While the details of the meetings were not made public, BuzzFeed News managed to obtain an audio recording that was broadcast to all employees. The neural device was a part of what was mentioned in the meeting.
From what is known about the device so far, Facebook is developing it using the resources of CTRL Labs, a neural-interface tech firm that Facebook acquired in 2019.
As reported by Buzzfeed News, the sensor is already capable of taking "neural signals coming from my brain, down my spinal cord along my arm, to my wrist,¡± said Mike Schroepfer, Chief Technology Officer at Facebook.

Schroepfer further noted that the technology could be used for typing or even interacting with virtual objects, like while controlling a character in a video game. At a wider level of application, Facebook's mind-reading tech can be used to perform several physical actions based on their thoughts.
As can be understood, the technology is very similar to Neuralink¡¯s brain-machine interface, which demonstrated its advancements recently by showing pigs fitted with the neural chip developed by the firm.
The neural technology that Facebook is working on is one among the slew of technological advancements that the company is seeking.

During the meeting, the firm reestablished its belief in artificial intelligence for several purposes, including tackling the spread of hate speech and other undesired content on its platforms.
Another AI assistant tool by the name of ¡°TLDR¡± was also mentioned, which is able to summarize news articles in bullet points.
