Google Fund: ¡®We Will Invest ?75,000 Crore In India In Next 5 Years,' Says Sundar Pichai
Sundar Pichai said India is big in Google's plan going forward
Alphabet-Google CEO Sundar Pichai, in its ¡®Google For India¡¯ online event has announced that the search engine giant will be investing $10 billion (approximately Rs 75,000 crores) in India as a part of Google For India Digitisation Fund, in the coming five to seven years.
In a digital address, Sundar Pichai announced that Google will do this as a mix of equity investments, partnerships and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments. In case you didn't know, 10 billion dollars in rupees comes up to roughly Rs 75,000 crore.
While announcing the Google investment in India, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said, ¡°It is a reflection of our confidence, in the future of India in this Digital Economy.¡±

During the announcement of Google investment fund in India, Sundar Pichai further explained that the 10 billion dollars or Rs 75,000 crore Google fund will primarily look into four areas -- enable affordable access to information to every Indian regional language, build products and services that India needs right now, help businesses go digital and lastly leveraging technology and AI for social good in health, agriculture and education.

Sundar Pichai further added while announcing the Google fund, ¡°As we make these investments, we look forward to working alongside PM Modi and the Indian government, as well as Indian businesses of all sizes, to realise the shared vision for a digital India. Our goal is that India not only benefits from the next ray of innovation but leads it. Working together, we can ensure that the best days are still ahead.¡±
Sundar Pichai, before the event, also had an interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a variety of topics including the current pandemic, and the new work-from-home culture that¡¯s prevailing in our nation right now.
PM Modi said about this interaction on Twitter, ¡°This morning, had an extremely fruitful interaction with @sundarpichai. We spoke on a wide range of subjects, particularly leveraging the power of technology to transform the lives of India¡¯s farmers, youngsters and entrepreneurs.¡±
