Sundar Pichai Has A Beautiful Gift For All 'Diwali' Searches On Google
Google and Alphabet's CEO Sundar Pichai wished everyone a Happy Diwali on Thursday, with an accompanying gift (of sorts)
Google is feeling festive. To mark the festival of Diwali, Google's Indian-origin CEO Sundar Pichai on Thursday shared a special gift for all users. For the rest of the day, whenever you search "Diwali" on Google, it will display a small lamp "diya" to all readers.
The "festival of lights", as Diwali is commonly known, is celebrated by various communities and groups of South Asian origin. The festive week marks a series of events that usually last for five days.
The true spirit of Diwali lies in the spiritual victory of light over darkness, of awareness over ignorance, and good over evil.
While Sundar Pichai's Indian roots may have played a role in highlighting the lamp on Google today, the company has made such Easter egg-like additions to its search engine in the past to highlight festivals and major events.
"Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating the festival of lights! (Look for the Diya lamp when you search for "Diwali" on Google:)," Pichai wrote on Twitter.

While that may not happen anytime soon, festivities are in full motion. Lamps or diyas are an important accessory for Diwali. Among those who celebrate, you may find houses adorned with electric lights, candles, and diyas.
