Moderna vaccine immunity
Moderna¡¯s mRNA vaccine was one of the first vaccines that gave us all hope that an end to the novel coronavirus is possible.
And according to its CEO, St¨¦phane Bancel in a statement on Thursday, ¡°The antibody decay generated by the vaccine in humans goes down very slowly. We believe there will be protection potentially for a couple of years.¡±
Covishield vaccine immunity
Oxford-AstraZeneca¡¯s adenovirus vaccine being manufactured at Serum Institute of India (also known as Covishield) recently got regulatory approval for emergency use in India.
The Oxford Covid vaccine¡¯s mastermind, Prof Sarah Gilbert of Oxford University said in a statement to Metro UK that based on initial studies data, she¡¯s optimistic to see ¡°a good duration of immunity, for several years at least, and probably better than naturally-acquired immunity.¡±
Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine immunity
The Pfizer-BioNTech novel coronavirus vaccine was the first to get approved for emergency use in the UK, followed by the US and other countries around the world. Trial data for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has revealed that even after 85 days of the second vaccination dose, the body still had the necessary antibodies to protect against SARS CoV-2.
Covaxin vaccine immunity
Bharat Biotech¡¯s Covaxin recently got its emergency use authorization in India, but lack of transparency in trail data engulfed it in a ton of controversy.
In a recent research paper shared by the company (reported first by the Times of India), Covaxin has claimed its COVID-19 vaccine is capable of producing antibodies which can persist in the body for six to twelve months.
Johnson & Johnson vaccine immunity
The vaccine being developed by pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson is still in its early stages when compared to the competition. However, despite that, it seems to be on a positive track. Phase 1 and 2 study data of the vaccine have revealed that the vaccine managed to show the presence of strong antibodies 29 days after the second dose vaccinations, in 98 percent participants. Currently, the vaccine is in its phase 3 of human trials.
Sputnik V vaccine immunity
Sputnik V was technically the first-ever vaccine against the novel coronavirus that got approved for use, clearing all the trials. As of now the vaccine has been administered in millions of individuals in Russia.
And a recent report has highlighted that the Gamaleya Institute¡¯s head, Alexander Gintsburg, claims that Sputnik V is likely to provide up to two years of immunity from COVID-19, "Concerning our vaccine and the platform it was created on, the Ebola vaccine, there is experimental evidence that using this platform, using similar preparation methods, provides protection for two years at least, maybe more.¡±
