The P30 features a 6.1-inch (1080x2340) OLED display with a familiar waterdrop notch. It features a 2.6GHz HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor with a Mali-G76 MP10 GPU and 6GB of RAM. It has 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 256GB, and is powered by a 3,650mAh battery.
The P30 Pro meanwhile features a 6.47-inch (1080x2340) dual-curved OLED display with the notch. With the same processor, it couples 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB / 512GB versions (expandable), and is powered by a 4,200mAh battery. Both devices feature fast charging, though the P30 supports 25W, will the P30 Pro supports 40W.
They also differ slightly on the camera side. Both devices have three cameras on the rear; a 40MP f/1.6 primary, 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide, and 8MP f/2.4 telephoto. There's also a 32MP f/2.0 selfie shooter on the front, all with RYB sensors instead of traditional RGB. These should offer superior night photography and brighter photos overall. There's also a difference in the telephoto lens. While the P30 offers up to 3X zoom, the P30 Pro has a periscope lens that uses a prism, offering up to 5x optical zoom, and more than that with hybrid zoom.
The P30 Pro also has a fourth camera on its rear, a Time-of-Flight (TOF) sensor placed underneath the flash. This is responsible for gathering depth information using infrared light, measuring the distance of objects from the camera when the IR bounces off them. Supposedly, this offers more professional-looking bokeh portrait shots, with a better depth of field.
Pricing and availability of the devices are still to be announced. We'll know more about how photos on this device really turn out once we get our hands on it, so stay tuned till then.
