Instagram has become one of the most preferred platforms of social media by people, and most of the credits go to features that it has included by borrowing from other social media platforms like Snapchat, and turning them to dust. And now Instagram brings another feature "inspired" from the sensational TikTok.

Reports on the internet hint at Instagram testing a new feature called 'Reels' that allows users to capture and edit short 15-second videos which will be posted as Stories. However, unlike regular stories, Reels can make your video viral as the videos will get posted in the Explore section too. This way people looking for other videos in the tab will stumble upon yours and help it get viral.
If you don't want the post to be public, you can privately DM it to someone too -- something that cannot be done on TikTok.
The option to record a Reel will be next to Boomerang and Zoom in the stories section. You can record without any audio or take audio from any video they find by searching the hashtag or Explore. They also have an option to look up a song and if Instagram's library has it, you're good to go.
Along with Reels, you get some really cool and intuitive editing tools like Ghost Overlay that will allow for smoother and artistic video transitions.
Alternatively, it is also working on Scenes -- a way for other people to edit videos shot by you and recreate them with similar tools, along with AR stickers.
Instagram has a really large user base across the world and for people switching to TikTok to make and watch such entertaining content, if a similar feature pops on the platform they use constantly, they wouldn't need to switch to a second app, and that's what Instagram is banking at.
Instagram has been testing Reel on iOS devices in Brazil among a bunch of users and it is unclear if it will make it to other countries anytime soon, but looking at the market it is losing to Tiktok, chances are we will see it very soon.
