iPhone 16 Series Could Feature Dedicated 'Capture Button' For Video Recording
Now, it appears that a new button is expected to make its way to next year's iPhone 16 series. iPhone 16 series could sport a Capture Button for the Pro line up. This button could be used for capturing videos.
The recently released iPhone 15 line up marked the introduction of a new Action Button on the Pro models. The Action Button replaced iPhone's mute switch and may be used to perform a variety of tasks - turning on the torch, launching the camera, and accessing shortcuts.
What new feature is iPhone 16 getting?
Now, it appears that a new button is expected to make its way to next year's iPhone 16 series. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, iPhone 16 series could sport a Capture Button for the Pro line up. This button could be used for capturing videos.
Writing in his Power On newsletter's latest edition, Gurman highlighted how the iPhone 16 series (especially the Pro models) could come with a few design changes, including a new Capture Button for taking videos.

While the iPhone 16 pro models would sport the rumoured Capture Button, the base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models would get the Action Button that was launched this year on the iPhone 15 Pro series.
What else to expect on iPhone 16
Gurman also noted that Apple would retain the iPhone 15's design for next year's iPhone 16 series. However, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max could have larger displays than the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max that have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays respectively.
The iPhone 16 series is expected to launch in the second half of 2024 but leaks are already circulating on the web. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max could be powered by an A18 Pro Bionic chip while the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus would be powered by a toned-down version of the A17 Pro chip.

In addition, Apple is expected to focus on AI-centric features for the iPhone 16 series, with iOS 18. Among the expected features are a refreshed version of Siri powered by large language models (LLMs). Some generative AI features could be exclusive to iPhone 16, Gurman revealed in November.
Apple is reportedly debating how to deploy generative AI on iPhones - whether to allow on-device processing or via the cloud. They could also consider a hybrid approach.
